Checking it All Out

Checking it All Out

What an amazing view!

In an effort to secure the location of our choice, we made an impromptu trip to the Cherokee area. We checked in to Smoky Falls Lodge, staying in the older part of the hotel. I truly recommend staying there in the newer part of the hotel and especially the cabins. Our room was quite large and comfortable, but the older part is dated and needs upgrades.

Friday night, we decided to sample meats at Pop’s Butts on the Creek. The brisket was amazing, flavorful, and so tender. We then headed to Ingles in Waynesville to see what kinds of cakes they have. I’d like to know when they’re coming to my hometown. I love that store!

Saturday morning, we woke up extra early, got ready and headed to Pop’s Place (different eatery) for breakfast. My favorite is the Lexi, 2 pieces of french toast made with Cuban bread, eggs, and sausage for me. Brian gets the Tex Mex omelette. This time, my eldest son came with us and had biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious!

We took a chance to see if Water Rock Garden Retreat was being rented, and the occupants had just checked out. It was perfect timing! Ensuring that the retreat would accommodate our crew, we took photos, walked the property, and checked out the inside of the home. Afterwards we poked around Cherokee for a bit and found a few Christmas presents. Time flew and it wasn’t long before we had to face our 5 hour trek back home. I wish we could have stayed longer, of course.

Now we wait until we receive the invoice for the location… I think I can speak for both of us when I say we are so excited!
